KNOL FARMS PRODUCTS
At Knol Farms we have been growing and processing strawberries
and rhubarb for many years. We also process fresh product
provided by other local growers.
Our modern facilities include 25 000 square feet of
manufacturing, 15 000 square feet of storage and 80 000 cubic
feet of freezer space. For maximum quality our strawberries and
rhubarb are blast frozen immediately after processing and kept
in our freezer where we can store over one million pounds of
frozen product.
Strawberries
Individually quick frozen (IQF) berries are purchased and
repackaged into:

Our 425g monocups, 425g Fruit Topping & 600g IQF bags are
available in most grocery stores in the Atlantic Canadian
provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and
Newfoundland).
Rhubarb
Locally we grow over 15 acres of our own rhubarb and we buy
fresh rhubarb from several local growers. All of this is cut
annually during the month of June. All of the fresh product is
then placed in cold storage until it is processed.
Processing consists of inspection, pre-slicing, washing,
slicing, final inspection, packaging, weighing and lidding.
Currently almost all of our processed rhubarb is sliced into
half inch sections and packaged into 7.75 kg pails.
In January 2002 we began packaging rhubarb into 2 kg bags. These
are available to the food service industry.
Apples & Raspberries
Knol Farms also has individually quick frozen (IQF) apples and
raspberries which are currently available to the food service
industry. Apples are packed in a 2kg bag and raspberries are
currently packed in a 2.5kg bag.
